Apple AirPods Pro 3 Noise Cancelling Earbuds

Our verdict

Apple has pushed in-ear noise canceling about as far as it currently goes, and the new five-size tip range finally gives more people a seal that holds. The heart rate sensing and at-home hearing test are genuinely useful additions, but the whole package only makes sense if your life already runs on Apple devices.

  • Up to 8 hours ANC
  • Five ear tip sizes
  • Built-in heart rate sensor
  • Live Translation support

Why we picked it

What sets these apart is not loudness but how completely the outside world drops away. Apple claims roughly double the noise reduction of the previous generation, and in practice that means office chatter and cabin hum stop being something you tune out and start being something you forget about entirely. Adaptive EQ then tunes the sound to your ear shape, so no two people hear quite the same thing.

Against cheaper noise canceling buds, the difference shows up in the boring things: switching between a laptop and a phone without fiddling, a transparency mode that sounds like air rather than a microphone, and a hearing aid feature backed by a real hearing test you take at home. On Android most of that disappears, and a good mid-tier rival makes far more sense.

Best for

  • iPhone owners who fly often
  • Runners tracking heart rate
  • Anyone with hearing sensitivity

Keep in mind

  • Reviewers are split on fit; the new tips help, but some ears still work them loose during exercise.
  • A minority report one bud failing or refusing to charge, so register the warranty and keep the receipt.
  • Heart rate tracking, live translation and hearing features lean heavily on a recent iPhone to be useful.
